I am the pie maker
I am the pie maker
I am the pie maker

Translated from an unaccredited Byzantine poem.  From a time when the making of pies was synonymous with the gift of life itself.  The word pie coming from the Cretan god Pieasmus the ultimate pie maker.

Unfortunately (for us pie aficionados) the truth is far less interesting.  I have not had much luck in tracing the etymology of pie.  Despite hours of on-line research (more than one and a half but not quite two) I couldn't come up with anything more informative than I found in my copy of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary.

Please ignore the following subliminal message.

EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES, EAT PIES.
